Ok I'll bite. One of the dictionary definitions of the word "gypsy" is "one who follows an itinerant or otherwise unconventional way of life." However, if an actual Romani messages me on this forum telling me they are offended by my username, I will gladly change it.

Just because it has that definition doesn't mean the word is not offensive.

I JUST said I was joking about Squishy meaning fat

You are like the kids who are called out for making a mistake and say they are just kidding.

Is it your norm to make fun of people who have strokes? What is wrong with you?

You are a hypocritical social warrior. According to you, mommy would have to be notified by an actual black person that corn grows are offensive*; otherwise, it's ok.

How many articles do you want that say Romani people are offended by the use of the word gypsy?

The “G” Word Isn’t for You: How “Gypsy” Erases Romani Women

"We cannot have a conversation about the use of “gypsy” without mentioning what it specifically means to be Romani and a woman facing racism, classism and sexism, excluded from traditional feminist and Romani activist movements."

You should do some reading before continuing to use a name that disparages another culture. It is rich you calling out anyone for cultural insensitivity.

*I don't find cornrows offensive. I am pointing out the flaws in her argument.

Here's another article wherein they say gypsy is an "Ethnic slur".

There are people who feel/have been taught/know/read/believe that cornrows are associated with gang culture. Gangs are scary.

Wow. I didn't know that. I'll have to watch out now!

No problem, as long as those with racist screen names don't tell mommy2b2c she is culturally offensive.
