Pots and pans.
Newspapers or magazines you’ve already read (watch out for paper eating)
A small pocket mirror (with supervision)

Do you have an Amazing Savings nearby?

I'm personally not comfortable buying anything from Ali Express if it's going in a baby's mouth, which toys are. They have no safety standards whatsoever. What age are you interested in buying for? Do you follow any blogs like kollel budget, which posts Amazon deals? My kids favorite toys when they were very young were kitchen utensils- mixing bowls, whisks, spatulas. If you want real toys too, I would focus on basics that can be used in new ways as they get older. Some sort of building toy, toy cars, balls. Again, this depends on the age of the child.

Don't do Ali for a mouthing baby, they are not tested for lead or paint and many items are smaller than pictured so it's a choking hazard

Also try Walmart and Target. Their prices are generally better than Amazon.

I once heard that the only toys a child needs are Balls, Blocks, and Books.
Agree that many household items make great toys. I have over 5 KA"H and very few baby toys. They're quite happy with spoons, cups, etc.

I work in a nursery. Half the toys we have are household items. Used bottles cleaned out, filled with water and glitter, beans, and all sorts of stuff that are glued shut. Pots, pans, books, broken cell phones, cleaning supplies (like unused fake rags and dusters).

Blocks, balls, rattles are good things to buy.

If you can wait a few weeks Target has a large toy sale every year at the end of July. Items slowly get marked down over a 2-3 week period by as much as 70% off. I've gotten many great toys over the years. This is when I usually stock up for birthdays, chanukah, etc. There's no guarantee they'll have items you're interested in but definitely worth checking out.

Baby toys are only of interest until maybe a year and a half and then they are stored away.
Do you have friends who can loan you some?
They also sell cheaply at garage sales but used toys must be able to be washed.
I got a riding toy used that has all kinds of interesting things on it and our 6 month old grandson sits next to it and plays with it. Probably your's will soon be able to sit if you put him in a sitting position.

Ha my baby doesn’t want his toys.
Wires, spoons, boxes, shoes, all work 😀

Can you borrow some toys from someone? I have so many I’d gladly lend some to somebody who’s baby in on a different toy stage than mine.

Goodwill, Craigslist, Freecycle. (Sanitize fully before giving it to the baby.)
