Sky, are either of those forts doable with a baby in a stroller? Will they let us fold a stroller to go on the train and stuff?

There are some really nice upscale hotels ( not jewish) next to Monsey. Palisades mall has different type of entertainment. imax, billy beez,( maze/balls) ropes course, etc.

In monsey you have turtle boo., hobby place.

Next to Monsey you have haverstraw park.

Gillette castle - the hike cannot be done with a stroller.
Fort Mott we have taken a stroller on the boat and tram (folded on tram). Within the fort there are many steps and a lot of areas are not accessible for a stroller.

I also mentioned the Sheffield lighthouse in an edited post. I went years ago. We did take the carriage on the ferry but couldn’t take it into the lighthouse.

roosevelt island you get there by taking a tram/chairlift from manhattan over water. nice parks, walkways next to water, little shops
you only pay for ride with a metro card the price of regular subway fee

oh so you need something more massive if you have teenagers. How about an indoor trampoline park?

Dankbar's suggestions make the most sense to me for a Sunday outing.
Easily accessible, short commute, green and pretty but still nearby.

For those age kids , they would probably enjoy and appreciate an amusement park the most.
Six flags or Dorney park.
