At what age do you move your baby out of your bedroom? My twins are 6 months old and still in our bedroom but it's terribly cramped with two cribs and when we also have to separate the beds it's even worse. I'm thinking of moving them into their own bedroom but am worried that it's too soon? The room is nextdoor, but I'm thinking of how I'll hear them (even with a monitor, what about shabbat??)
When did you do the big move?
Edit: sorry to those who kept the baby in their room past 1.5 years. I tried to add it to the poll but it didn't work and won't let me go back and edit

Leave the door to both rooms open. If the room is next to your room, you'll hear them.

I moved my babies out by 4-6 months depending on the child. Why wouldn't you hear them? I leave the door open to the kids room and also my own door is never fully closed when I fall asleep.

My 4 year old, two year old and 4 month old are still in my bedroom. Due to lack of space in the apartment.

Leave both doors open and you'll hear them. My hearing is terrible and it works. You won't hear the inconsequential shuffling. You'll hear the real crying.

I moved most of my kids out at 6 weeks, but to the other side of the wall from my bed, so I heard them right away. Once they woke up to nurse, they stayed with me until morning.

The good ole fashioned way, I'd imagine!
My Rav holds that once a child can speak, you can't have relations with them in the room. I think there's something in the shulchan aruch about this.

Dankbar, before we moved to our current apartment, we also had our kids in our bedroom. It's unfortunately not so unheard of in Brooklyn.

Relations are fine with a sleeping child or awake baby.
I have a baby in my room, and up to 2 toddlers depending on the night.

When he started sleeping through the night, so 5 weeks.
Baby's room was right next to ours, so I was able to hear him.

Agree, you don't have to hear all unnecessary kvetching and cryouts. You'll only hear the real crying. And sometimes babies wake up from noises caused by you or dh
I put my baby out of my room at 5 months, it was the best thing for both of us as we both started sleeping much better.
Good luck!

I don't think she meant it that way, I think she meant how are you able to have relations with all those kids in the bedroom with you

Moved my baby out at 7 months, kept both doors open. Should have moved her a month or 2 earlier - she probably would have started sleeping a bit better. But we had a very large room so space wasn't such an issue and I was nervous to not hear her.
