Classic womens black double breasted knee length trench coat got a small hole when someone slammed a car door on it. The hole is close to the front edge, a little above the knee.
What trimming can I cover the hole with and put elsewhere too that wont look ridiculous on a classic trench?
Any other ideas for covering the hole?
I think reweaving is probably very expensive.

Can you just put a black patch on the inside of the coat to “fill in” the hole?

The hole is smaller than the diameter of a pencil, but because of getting stuck in the door, it became a little "greyed out (discolored)" and Id like to cover it with something, perhaps some kind of trim that wont look noticeable, or if I cant do better an embroidered flowery applique that Id scatter and use 3 -5 of.

You can take fabric from the interfacing of the coat and make a small patch using the same thead the coat is stitched with. You can do it symmetrical on the other side. I think 3 - 5 scattered flowers may not be the right look. I like keeping it tailored.
Can you post a picture of the coat?

I would either shorten the coat all around it take from the interface. Can you magic marker the hole? Is it gray because it got grease on it? Did you try cleaning it?
