If my Challah recipe that I like, doesnt brown on sides, do I take them out of the tins in the middle of baking?

Are you using real pans? Or disposable?
The sides won't brown in disposables, so you either need to use real or take them out of the tin for the last 15 minutes or so.

Thanks. I did that this time and they look good.
Ive baked so many dark on the top, white on the sides Challah, that didnt look right.
Why is there no mention of this in recipes? So many people use disposable tins.

I recently bought real pans (the dark, non-stick Magic Mill brand) and they make a huge difference -- my challahs brown nicely on all sides and rise much more evenly than they did in disposable pans (I think the fact that the sides are straight and not slanted helps).
