I dont have a smartphone but I have a laptop. Is there a way to download whatsapp on my desktop even if I dont have a smartphone?

Ive never done this so I cant vouch for it but there are programs you can download to your computer, that when you open them, it mimics a phone/tablet so you can download and run apps through it.
One example is bluestacks.
But when I did my mini research bout on this (I wanted to download a specific video editing app to my computer) I read a lot of people saying it really slowed the computer down.
But you can look into it

I had WhatsApp on a laptop with blue stacks
It was quite a few years ago, and DH downloaded it, so no more information.
