I tried to look through to see if this topic has been discussed before but there were just too many threads to sift through.
I know that it’s very normal for little boys (age 6 upwards I’m referring to) to touch their privates on top of their pants- not hands inside pants. But it’s just not pleasant to see, and I try to encourage my son to stop but don’t feel I get anywhere. What do I say to him to explain that it’s not something that is nice for people to see etc..?

It's not tznius to touch your private parts when you're not in private. You don't have to comment every time it happens, though. Only if his hands stay there.

My 8 year old does the same thing, kinda plays with it but not majorly. Usually when he's tired or grumpy...drives me nuts but I know it's normal. I once told him it's not something we do in public and casually motion for him to move his hands away.

They teach in cheder that touching is a big no-no! Even to keep hands in pocket is not allowed.
