What size would you get for a six-year-old going into first grade next year? (So she'll turn seven halfway through the year.) I would want it to last for two years.
Would I get a small for her, or a medium?

The small is too big for my 3 year old really. Its probably for a 5 year old. I'd think a first grader can go either way.

I would say medium. I had bought for my daughter a medium when she was in first grade but it also depends how big /tall your daughter is to “carry” it.

She's not very big or tall. Also not very tiny. Just perfectly average I think. I guess there's no harm in the medium for her age? Is it just regular backpack size?

How big is the medium? 14" or 16"? 16" is huge for a first grader.
