I air dry as I don't believe in extra work for no reason. I of course may have problem marrying off my children as I also don't stack dishes and I believe in plastic tablecloth covers.

Posted as amother for obvious shidduch reasons.

I have a stainless plate rack hanging over my sink — something like an Israeli dishrack except we mounted it between 2 cabinets and it doesn't move. The wet dishes drip into the sink: https://www.richelieu.com/us/e.....85170

Work smarter, not harder. Towel drying is a waste of time unless you really need to get rid of water spots, and air drying is also more sanitary. I air dry unless there's a compelling reason to towel dry, e.g. I need to use the dishes right away and they need to be dry (don't a wet spoon into a jar of sugar, please), or that I need to get the dishes out of the way and into the cabinet right now. Why else would anyone bother doing something that nature will do effortlessly all by itself?

This reminds me of a cute quote I read once:

I always help my wife out with the laundry and dishes, she washes them and I let them dry Very Happy

I air dry unless I want my (not so big) kitchen to be totally clean, like if I only get to the dishes right before shabbos.
I only use paper towels though, not regular kitchen towels. I find it absorbs better and is more sanitary.

I'm renting an apt right now that doesn't have the typical Israeli dish drying racks and minimal counter space. I still air dry but very often I need the space so then I towel dry.
In my new home I will have a besari dishwasher and chalavi drying rack cabinet.

Yes, as annoying and less sanitary as towel drying is, I loathe coming down for breakfast with last night’s pots and pans/plates to put away.

What is unsanitary about using a towel?

I wash my towels on 60°C, and then dry in a very hot dryer.
I use a clean towel to dry the clean dishes. What on earth could be unsanitary?

I air dry, but my cleaning lady towel dries. It seems like I always have dishes in my dish drain (or sink) even if I put it away when all my kids are home. It never ends.

I once went somewhere with two other families. One woman was washing the dishes and I was drying them. I stopped drying them and then the other woman that was there started drying them. I told her the only reason why I did it in the first place was because there wasn't enough room for all the dishes on the rack, so I had to dry them. After we all said that yes, we all let air dry at home. Forget about what's more sanitary....less work Wink .

If that is it's only use, clean out of the dryer, then nothing is unsanitary about it.
However, many people do not change their kitchen towel often enough and/or use it non-appropriately (to dry germy surfaces or family wiping dirty hands on it etc.) so as a result it becomes a medium for spreading germs around the kitchen.
