If you are used to having a car in the USA, then not having one in Gimmel is very hard because you need to get to Aleph for many things.

As far as I have seen, there is nothing even for sale yet in hey. It's probably going to be at least 5 years until you would be able to move.

you are really not going to find out much from reading what people write online. you need to come with your husband (preferably older kids too if possible) and walk around ramat bet shemesh. Speak to other people on each block, each block is different and has a different flavor. In RBS aleph the different types are more segregated, while in gimmel they are all lumped together (with less extremes probably on both end.)
You really need to come and look and feel.
A big question is how old are your kids? what school are they in now? How American/Israeli do you want for a school, for a community? How much limudei chol do you want? Where do you want to see your children 10-15 years from now?

there are many, many schools here and you have to come and see which one is the proper fit for you. listening to people who don't know you (and saying you are yeshivish, isn't really specific for eretz yisrael) tell you about a place is probably not going to be too accurate.
