make easier foods like crisp(frozen mix and some apples ad prefrozen crumbs), cholent, storebought kugel, store bought dips, a salad, premade meat or cold cut platter. plastic dishes for some plates etc

I can relate. I always make wayyyyy too much food but always feel there is too little before Shabbos. I do not but out food, anyone who knows me knows I make everything including all dips and I have very very full courses. I love having the guests and bh I love cooking, I find the cleaning on Shabbos to be the hardest as I am not a cleaner at all.

I can relate
This is why I have a schedule
Monday cleaning lady 8hrs
Tuesday Challah
Wednesday grocery shopping
Thursday cook and chop EVERYTHING
All salads are chopped all dressings made
Friday cleaning lady 8hrs and she helps set the table and all last minute preps
Even with all this and I don’t work
Plus no kids at home and still having guests is ALOT of work
But I love to cook
Hate to clean

I to love having company but hate the cleanup.
I don't mind cooking (ok, I have the help of my daughters) but hate the cleaning up after SOOO much.
Should I confess that I am gross.
I have dirt serving pieces, on my counter and I am not going to wash them before bed tonight. I just don't care.

Same. This week I had last minute guests and I felt bad I didn’t go all the out the way I usually do making 10 salads and 3 mains and a few desserts.. But my guests said everything was delicious and plentiful.
You know what I learned? I don’t need to go all out. I can make a regular shabbos and everyone will still want to come back!

I love to cook. I don't love the loss of privacy. I don't love the loss of control of my schedule. I don't mind male company. Female company means I have to stay up and host.

We have guests all the time and our approach is to have good food but nothing fancy. We buy a lot of it (kugel, dips, cakes, etc.) which makes it easier. Everyone keeps on coming back BH so it must be working. 😀
