But it is really affecting me, I can’t sleep and I’m having other physical symptoms Sad

I’m staying in Kiev in an apartment with a bunch of people. One of the people is not happy I’m here. So they’re taking water out of the cooler to their room, and then telling everyone that I drank it, and left the whole house without water.

And everyone believes them because they’ve been here longer.

I drink a lot of water, but even I’m not capable of drinking ten liters in one afternoon.

This person is kind of “slimy,” very non-communicative, but makes their disdain for me very clear.

I have to find a more permanent place to stay, but I’ve been feeling so awful I don’t have the strength to go and look at rooms/apts, make decisions.

It sounds so ridiculous that someone would do this, but it’s actually very distressing.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Sorry, I know nothing about Kiev but is Airbnb active and safe there? Can you try to remove yourself? It sounds so stressful where you are!

Can you get in touch with the rabbi there? Or with the Chabad house? This is not good for you in any way.

Any advice on how to deal with this person? Or how to talk to the other flatmates?

I don’t know anyone in the Jewish community here.

I mean other than videotaping this person lying, which may implicate you in illegal videotaping, I don't know what you can do.

You can try to just defend yourself and keep affirming that she's making this up and hope that other people will eventually come to your side, but you have limited control over that.

You can choose to just ignore everything, all the false accusations; I'd personally feel uncomfortable and not be able to live in peace.

Really with some manipulative people, the easiest is to remove yourself from the situation otherwise you're immersed in their drama.

I’ve been trying to be a good flatmate. I buy paper towels, tp, dish soap, and fruit and snacks for everyone; I clean the kitchen; I’m quiet. And this one person, instead of COMMUNICATING and just telling me what their issues are, is doing this sabotage.

Everyone else is nice, they’re just not going to believe a relative stranger.

Last night I was crying for a while, so frustrated with slimy and dishonest people!

Thanks google translate! (Sorry Sequoia, but no private conversations anymore. Hiding Twisted Evil )
Does the...mean this is the beginning of a joke, or a punchline? Or some adage that has a deeper meaning?

You say the situation sounds ridiculous. Newsflash: It IS ridiculous.
Hugs! I've hugged a lot on this thread but realized you have no way of knowing.

ETA: to erase an apostrophe. Maybe I meant to transpose the two words.

It’s a Russian quote, “If there’s no water in the tap, the k**** must have drunk it.”

I had a hunch the ... meant something. Of course my google page had nothing else but the actual translation.
Lovely.

If its in the other person's room, you need someone else to see it there. So just keep saying "no, there was plenty of water last time I checked. Maybe you took it into your room by mistake," then suggest that someone else check his/her room.

But honestly, it does sound like you need to find another place, as its likely things will just get worse. BTDT.

Hope you're otherwise enjoying Kiev.
