Please help!!

They have had no screen time, outdoors for several hours each afternoon...

They lie awake for an hour every night, some nights a little bit longer.

Any ideas?
What have you tried?

Same.
Per this site, I am a bad mother, my kids need drugs, and we all need therapy.

LOL we’re all a load of sh*t, and should have been on BC. Honestly, why did you have kids if you can’t get them to sleep??!!

Hoping someone kind will have a suggestion without judgement What

It's really hard. I find that I have to mentally prepare myself for bedtime. What time do they wake up? Is it possible that they can go to sleep a little later?

What time do they go to bed and wake up? Perhaps they're hungry or thirsty?
What works for me is good room darkeners and a white noise machine. I try to put my kids to sleep one at a time, when the younger one is asleep I put in the older one.

Melatonin has been a lifesaver for me. I start with a quarter or half of 1 mg. Depending on the size of the kid. Within half hour they are usually asking to go to sleep (but not always). Mel-o-chews from Maxi Health work the best.

They may need more wind down time before bed. I know many people who have their kids get into bed with audiobooks /stories to help them relax. Alternatively, it may be worth nightly baths or bringing then inside earlier and having a calm activity in the evenings (puzzles or books or board games if your kids are old enough).

Can you tell us more about the kids ages and evening schedule?

Not sure if you have other commitments but for me, I prefer they stay in bed for an hour relaxing rather then go to bed later and get kvetchy.
I use the time to tell stories, listen to music and just sit there. It's great bonding especially cuz they are in school all day.
I find regardless of when they go to sleep, they wake up early so I try to stick to bedtime even if they stay awake a while.

How old are they and what time do they get to bed?
Summertime bedtime is so so difficult!
Kids don't want to go in before all their friends are (think 7:30).
I feel so mean going inside at around 6:45. And even that is super late. They stall not wanting to come in. Bath, teeth, it takes time. They get to bed close to 8 then struggle to fall asleep.

In the winter, bedtime was 6:45.
What I realized is, once my kids missed their bedtime it took them hours to fall asleep. If we made the 6:45/6:50 cut off time they would be asleep before 7pm!

Could you be missing their internal bed timing? Even 15 minutes can make the difference.
Do you see them getting tired at some point?
