I saw the movie awhile ago and liked it even though I thought it was really sad espcailly since it really does happen to women.

I read the book a few years ago and was shocked that this could happen so recently and even more horrified to realize that it is still happening.

You mean the real mother and daughter? How are they doing?

This film though has a happy ending.

They're doing well. Betty Mahmoody does a lot of public speaking about what happened to her, and I think she does some consulting with the State Department. Mahtob, her daughter, is about 27 now. Her father has tried to get in contact with her but she has no interest.

I saw this movie a long long time ago (probably more than 15 years ago?). I thought it was excellent.
