My kids, 8 and 4 yrs old, are home from school by 4:15 and our 8 year old expects activities to be arranged for her.
As she comes in, before saying hello “what are we doing today? Can we go somewhere? Did you invite any friends to come?”
I’m tired as I get home from work at 4:15 and don’t really want to have a busy afternoon. She’s had enough of the local parks and pet shop, and there’s also the issue of having arranged for a friend to join.
DS 4 is happy to play at home or in garden.
All suggestions will be appreciated.

Reframe for her. You’re not her entertainer. At 8 she’s old enough to read a book or play. Alternately, she can help you (set the table for dinner? Fold laundry? Cook?)

When my kids say they're bored or ask for entertainment and I suggest they fold some laundry they suddenly become very, very good at quietly entertaining themselves in their rooms.
