For falling asleep a doctor once told me to try and raise legs while lying flat on back. It’s supposed to help balance the bodies energy since all day we are on our feet. This is something that either works or doesn’t. But if it does it’s kind of like magic.

Make sure they are not overtired. If I don't go to sleep the minute I feel tired, I can't fall asleep for hours and hours. Sometimes melatonin helps, sometimes calcium by day, sometimes reading, sometimes white noise. Sometimes nothing. Make sure the room is cool, dark, and quiet...like a cave.
