All the recipes I see online have gelatin. I have unflavored jello in the house, has anyone seen a recipe using it instead?

Isn't "unflavored jello" (which may not be exactly what it says on your box as Jello is a brand, it's not kosher, and doesn't come in unflavored) identical to gelatin?

they are usually called unflavoured jel (liebers, gefen, simply delish) and are Carrageenan, not gelatin.
kolatin was a kosher gelatin brand - but its not available anymore.

Now I understand, the question is whether vegetarian gelatin substitutes work as well as real gelatin. I found this post where someone tried to make marshmallows with Leiber’s Unflavored Jel and did not get good results (but includes another recipe made with agar agar powder, google kosher agar agar for sources)

Oh my gosh I am so glad you posted that link! I've been looking for it forever! I first found it years ago and successfully made vegetarian marshmallows (after many failed attempts) and really wanted to give it another go (though you can FINALLY get good vegan marshmallows in Israel). So thank you!
