It’s for an elementary school aged child.
After many years of speech therapy we have not yet solved the problem. Unfortunately it is effecting my child socially.
I have always used therapists who were covered under my insurance.
I no longer want to do that. I just want my child to speak properly.
Please, if you know someone who has worked wonders with your child, please share the name.

I used someone from a smaller agency. She was amazing. But I think the fact the agency was very on top of the situation and had constant evaluations made a big difference.
2 boys went both with major speech issues (one with hearing issues) doing much better now. It took many years (6+). There was no quick fix.
You can pm me for name- but the actual speech therapist was only in this school.

I could be off base but If your child has sensory issues as well and needs OT, I know someone amazing who combines speech and OT into one session.

childrens specialized is good. "but". I used them and they werent very helpful. my daughter is yiddish speaking and needed to learn english too. which she did. but they didnt address the problem totally. they only targeted partial problem. the reason is because they only do a certain amount of therapy and after that time they send you away and put in other kids that need help. this child had receptive and expressive lang delays they only worked on receptive and the expressive part kept staying delayed and so I was dissappointed. I spent a whole year on teaching her a language. (at least she learned something) she also had a phenomenal ot. and that was very good. also because the techniques they use is outdated and there are more newer techniques so she got good but not the best. heres my experience and this was what insurance I had so no other options. now she is somwhere else with way better therapists. paying alot more so she can progress and move on quicker

Word of warning: the Ziva Krieger foundation was started by a wonderful, knowledgeable person but I don’t think it is up to the standards any more today. I asked them for a recommendation for an evaluator to help me decide whether to push my daughter ahead. They sent me to a playgroup Morah who was unlicensed, terribly unprofessional, and wanted $180 without even a written report of her eval. Maybe for a speech therapist you’ll do better because I doubt they would send you to someone unlicensed for that, but beware.

If your child has articulation issues, have you seen an ENT to make sure all the speech mechanisms work well?
Also, in Manasquan there is a Speech Language Pathologist, Carol Krakower who uses a program called Smart Palate. She makes a mold of the mouth and the company makes a device like a retainer that the child wears in therapy. Its hooked up to a computer and gives the child visual feedback about tongue placement etc...
Hatzlacha!

I called for the same thing and they sent me to someone super experienced and she was incredible and she took $75 I think. I was so impressed!

I had the same negative experience with the Ziva kriger foundation and would never recommend them. Unlicensed unprofessionals without a solid background in understanding child development.

Devora Himy's group is the best for language/social language. They don't do articulation.

OP what speech diagnosis does your child have? Is it a problem with producing only certain speech sounds, or with producing lots of speech sounds? Is your child's speech understandable when they're saying simple things, but the understandability breaks down when they produce longer words or sentences? Can you write some examples of how your child sounds?
Knowing whether it's an articulation, phonology, or apraxia issue will help you figure out who to go to, and will help people here make good recommendations.
