My husband and I are both self-employed in Brooklyn, NY. (I work for him.) We make just a little bit too much to be on programs. We live in a small rented apartment with very reasonable rent B"H. We have low business expenses but pay a lot of tuition (even with breaks) health insurance (I have a medical condition and need good insurance) and just general cost of living expenses.
I am finding it impossible to:
Put away money.
Come up with money to send in for the quarterly taxes (we are behind so far this year.)
Figure out a budget when we sometimes go a long time without a paycheck and then get a big sum all at once that pays the bills but is not enough to send to the IRS.
If you are in a similar situation, please advise. Any tips are appreciated!
