If a parent/ grandparent has the name necha can a child be named nechama? Are they considered two different names or the same name?

I have a dictionary of Jewish names at work, and it says Necha is a Yiddish pet name for Nechama. AYLOR.

When I researched the name Necha, the nearest source I found for the name was that it was once a nickname for Nechama.

I have an aunt named Nechama, who has a daughter named Necha. So I assume those who've said they're two different names are correct

I couldn't find a meaning for Necha. The nearest I found was spelled differently_ Nun Ches Hey- and means cripple.

I didn't use the name Necha, though it was my grandmothers name. And I can't use Nechama as that was the name given to my infant sister who was nifteres at 5 days old.

So for Necha, we changed the syllables/sounds around. From Ne-cha to Cha-na. And named dd Chana
