Does anyone have a good bread recipe? (I dont have a bread machine) I usually buy the Korns rye bread, which tastes very good and I don't think it actually has rye. Most recipes I tried just dont have any taste- very blah. I dont like sourdough, just bread that tastes like something! Any ideas?

Have you tried adding different seeds or things like olives or tomatoes, different spices-rosemary, basil etc? I think they're called savory breads.
I will admit I've never made them myself but they always look delicious. It's on my to-do list for when I have more time (not happening anytime soon though Sad )

Is there a specific type of bread you’re looking for? This makes a delicious crusty loaf, and you can sub in a small amount of rye flour if rye is the thing you’re after.

I have the same thoughts and wanted to make rye / corn-rye. I googled it. I think you need a sourdough starter or something like that. It required pre-prep and different days or something like that. I don't remember because it was SO not going to happen.

Have you tried making rye bread? Or pumpernickle?

This is good. Kneed it and bake it like a regular bread dough, disregard that it's coming from a bread machine recipe.

This is delicious, I make it every week for Shabbos! I personally think that it's way better than traditional challah.

I came across this recipe the other day actually, but what's this Dutch oven thing its speaking of? It sounds complicated. Can I just stick it in a pan and bake?

A Dutch oven is just a cast iron pan with a lid. You can use any oven safe pan with a lid and it will still be delicious. In a pinch, you can use any oven safe pan and cover tightly with tinfoil. But, you will get a noticeably better crust texture by using preheated cast iron (a preheated pizza stone would also probably work well). This is the one I use:

Lodge 3 Quart Cast Iron Combo Cooker. Pre-seasoned Cast Iron Skillet, Fryer, Dutch Oven, and Convertible Skillet/Griddle Lid https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000.....6fU2c

I make the dutch oven bread all the time! Its really great. I have a dutch oven but any pot with a lid that is oven safe works too. I usually make a quadruple recipe so I use 4 pots.

You just have to remember to mix the dough the night before. And have really good oven gloves! (speaking from sad experience)

Also, its vegan, if you have any vegan guests. Smile And sugar free. And fat free. And still really amazing despite all that. (sadly not low carb...can't have everything)

I find it goes much better with dips then regular challa which is sweet.
