Yes. I still lay with my 3 year old every night in my bed, and when he falls asleep I transfer him into his own bed.
And this past shobbas he napped and he didnt go to sleep until after midnight..
Because he wasn't tired at his regular bedtime.
I find this age to be tricky regarding naps and bedtimes..

For 10 or 15 minutes it's delicious. Once you're hitting a hour, that's an hour of mommy's ~3 hour evening, possibly while other kids need her, she needs to eat dinner, clean up the house, prepare everyone's bags for the next day, and depending on her profession, possibly do some work she brought home.

Exactly. My 2.5 yr old can sometimes fall asleep with me laying with her for 10-15 min while I sing and tell stories. Other nights is 1-2 hours or more of putting her to bed and I just can't do it.

I agree, although I will admit to being so tired that I've fallen asleep first, and dd is still awake

Time for a bed, not a crib (unless the crib covers to a toddler bed, then do that).
Pick him up, put him back. Wordlessly. It'll take hours. It might take half the night. It'll take several nights. But eventually it'll stick.
