Hodaya is not really used in chassidishe circles, but maybe Hudya, Hudy. is similar

Tilly could be nice similar to Tehilla.

Maybe Matty- for matana

Gitty, Thanking for the good

Fraidy, Frady- a joy

Blimy, Roizy a beautiful flower grown from seed inplanted.

I know someone promised Sara by R shimons kever for his mom.
Sara also waited long for children as well as Rivka, Chana.
Chana is also a form of giving.

Chaya thanking Hashem for giving life to your baby

I named my daughter Tehilla. We are in yeshivish circles and it's not very common here but people always compliment it and say it's such a pretty name. I don't think it's so out there that you can't use it. What about Nechama?

OP here. I'm chassidish. People here are named either common names from Tanach (Suri, Esty, Miriam, Ruchel) or else Yiddish (Raizy, Tziry). There's also Chaya, Malky, names like that but I have never heard Tehilla.

I'm in my 40's. When I was a little girl in preschool in Visnitz, there was a girl in my class named Tila. (I imagine her name was Tehilla.)

My IVF baby is Tehila. I'm not chassidish but I believe that Hodaya or even Eliana (love that name!) would not go over well in the community. It's a beautiful name with a beautiful meaning, but you have lots of other good suggestions here if you are not comfortable with it...

Shaina, Shaindel A beautiful package.

Zissy-a sweet ending

Leah- you wiped away my tears

Miriam- you took away my bitterness

(Chasya- Hashem had rachmanus ok a bit old fashioned)

( Chasida- Thanking for Hashem's chasadim)

Trying to get a little creative if you can't use the typical names of thanks šŸ¤”

Tehilla would not work in a chassidish community.
I had a similar situation in which I was looking for traditional name for my daughter and wanted to reflect those feelings.
I was thinking of Yehudis, and in the end went with Leah because there were a couple of great-grandmothers with that name and we wanted to name after grandmother. I had in mind when giving the name that Leah is for Leah Imeinu who was the one to call Yehuda by his name, it is written that she was the first one to give thanks to Hashem in this way. It is meaningful to me.

Can I ask, why are chassidishe communities so ridged about names?
Tehilla and Hodaya, and Eliana, are beautiful names, praising Hashem. Why can't names be a little different?

Tilla is a derivative of Tehilla. You could give the name Tehilla and call the kid Tila, or Tilly. (Or Tehilla and too bad on the community)

Hudya is a yiddish derivative of Hodaya.

I knew a few chasidish Tillys when I was growing up. Iā€™m assuming their names were derived from Tehilla.
