I'd like recommendations for speech therapists in the Far Rockaway/Five Towns area who specializes in stuttering (more of a fluency issue - he repeats words/phrases) for a teenage boy. I'm getting quotes of $500 for an initial consultation, and approximately $200/session. There are no guarantees that the therapy will work, and being that it's so expensive and a major time commitment, I'd like to feel as confident as possible that I start with the right therapist. All advice is greatly appreciated.

Schneider speech. I think they have a website where you can look up their info. I highly recommend.

If you don't get more traffic, you might want to put location in your thread title. (Though I don know speech therapists who work remotely.) Hatzlacha!

Randy Dorfman. She is in Monsey but people found her very helpful for consults.

Another option is a guy Yanky Kaufman in Lakewood. Perhaps he does Skype sessions? He is not a speech therapist, however, he himself stuttered and developed a method to control it.

Dr. Simeon Blitman. He is expensive but you actually graduate.
With any therapy, give yourself a time frame by when you need to see progress (say 6-8 weeks) and if you dont, just move on.
