Which alcohol for honey cake

The honey cake recipe I use calls for whiskey or rye- does it make a difference which I use and which brand I use? If it does have impact on flavor which is best?

I don't think brand makes a diff.. Just use any liquor you like! Coffee, chocolate. Amaretto.
I like to put the coffee flavor in my cakes.

Interesting. I never thought to use a flavored one. Though the recipe already calls for coffee and orange juice so I don't think having a flavored one would really add anything in this case. I guess I'll just get whatever is cheapest?

I got my recipe from here. It’s delicious and has no alcohol.

We used a recipe that called for Bourbon, I would assume it has more to do with the taste, but I'm not an expert.

I've used the recipe for a few years now and it really is the best- I just always forget what type of alcohol I use and curious if it makes a difference.
