I have 2 and a third pound of beef and 1 cup rice, how much of spices and which do you add to make stuffed cabbage? I need measurements please. All the cookbooks dont give an amount of spices. One cookbook said to soak the rice overnight. What does that do, is it necessary?

I don’t soak rice . I cook the rice first
I use the filling recipe in the Balabustas Choice cook, it gives amounts . I don’t follow the ratio of meat and rice though. I play around with that until I have the consistency I like.

Add 1 tsp salt, 1 large grated onion, and 3 crushed garlic cloves. You can also add 2 eggs and 2/3 cup of water. I personally like to use cooked rice, 2 cups (that's half a cup raw).

Either soak the rice overnight or use cooked rice. Otherwise the rice will be hard and undercooked.
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
2 eggs
1/2 cup sauce
