My standard answer to that one is that one has indoor plumbing and the other has outdoor plumbing.

Thank you! My twins are adults now but I would have loved to have had this back in the day! I used to say one is mine from a previous marriage. And people believed me!

I once saw an ad for a T-shirt with a list of responses to make it unnecessary to answer the questions parents of infant twins always get:
Yes, they are.
No, they're not or Yes, they are (options)
No, we didn't.
No, we don't.
The questions being, of course:
Are they twins?
Are they identical?
Did you have twins in your family? (Or, did you take fertility drugs?)
Do you get any sleep?
