I'm making a party for about forty people total with twenty being kids about age twelve. I was thinking of baked ziti mini pizza bagels and spreads and salads. I was also considering another pasta.

I need help figuring out amounts

Thanks

For the purposes of this question, consider the twelve year olds as adults. They have a fairly adult size appetite at this age.

I would make:
4 pans baked ziti
2 pans macaroni & cheese or similar
6-8 dozen mini pizza bagels
salads

But keep in mind I come from a family of big eaters.

I had a party for about the same amount of people and we had (I think!) 1 or 2 pans pasta, one pan eggplant Parmesan, 1 or 2 pans fries, 2 large pans pizza (like 4 9x13 pans), 2 large salads. Salads hardly went but depends on the crowd.

Eta I just realized you wrote the kids are around 12 - the kids at my party were mostly much younger.

I tend to overcater but I would do:

2-3 trays each of ziti and other pasta. (mac and cheese is always popular)
40 bagels
60 mini pizzas
2-3 bowls of each salad

The last party I made was for about the same amount of people, 20 adults, 25 kids, but kids were of mixed ages.

I served: Salad bar
bagle and spreads bar
1 big pot french onion soup
1 big pot potato zucchini soup
garlic bread in baskets on the table
2 9x13 french fries
3 9x13 mini pizzas
1 9x13 tilapia
1 9x13 mac and cheese
1 9x13 mushroom cream sauce pasta
1 9x13 penne vodka
1 large birthday cake, plus platters of penut chews and rice krispy treats (these are a special favorite of the birthday boy)

It was a lot of food, but there was actually very little left over. Everyone ate and ate and ate. The thing that we had leftoevers of was the tilapia, but we knew we were serving that mainly for me and my husband. The rest of the adults went for the pastas.
