DD got married in December of 2017. Just before succos this year, we got an invitation back in the mail-return to sender.
Anybody else have an invitation or letter returned way after the fact?

The office I work at had an envelope of files returned after 18 years. It showed up in the mail last year as if it was a regular item but the postage was from 2000

We had one returned months later. It was in a plastic sleeve and looked like it survived a hurricane and a fire, lol! But it was maybe 5-6 months. 2 years is pretty crazy.

Yes we received something from our insurance that was mailed to our former address and forwarded 3 years later. It’s possible the people that received it found it and remained it . I don’t think the post office was hanging onto it for that long. But maybe. It was all wrinkled and dirty

Maybe the OP of the “we didn’t get a paper invitation” thread should read this....

When I lived in Israel I once received a Bar Mitzvah invitation 3 months after the event with a stamp on it which said 'missent via Malaysia'.

Only after I told them three months after the Bar Mitzvah itself.

I doubt it. But I guarantee this cousin was not insulted. Next time I see him I will tell him. We are bh such a large family, there are lots of weddings going on all the time. And no one comes to all of them, or even realizes there was one sometimes.

More than once, though not quite that much later. Between several months and a year.

I honestly think that with invitations, they probably sat in a pile of mail in someone’s counter before they decided to finally clean up and send back.

I moved into my house 8 years ago. Someone lived here for about a year before we moved in. I'm still getting wedding invitation for them.
My basement tenants moved out at least 5 years ago. I'm still getting wedding invites for them!!!
Where do people look before they address their mailings?
I used to forward them but not anymore. Now I throw them out! If they still don't know that they don't live here , they must not be that close!
