Going to start off by saying we've been to the doctor and sent a stool sample, awaiting final results, so far all clear bh.
My baby is almost 5 months and is teething like crazy, already has 5 teeth with a few more almost through.
Only nursing. Has been having green poop for a couple of days so at first I thought it was teething diapers. Then it turned in to constant, after every feeding one or two green mucus-y diapers. No other symptoms except for not sleeping well. We went to the doctor and he did a full exam. He said it's probably not bacterial because no fever and baby is so alert kh. Bh no dehydration.
Still awaiting the rest of the stool sample results but so far everything is negative. Can this just be normal for teething so much? Baby is constantly drooling and I know that could also cause green poop because of excess saliva.
Did anyone experience something like this? Anything to do?
Thanks

Green poop is normal for a nursing baby. It could be that he's stuffed up a bit and finding it hard to nurse, so he gets more foremilk than hindmilk. But generally speaking if he is exclusively breastfed, green poop is not an indication that you need to go to the doctor or do any tests.
Also, breastmilk poop is runny and seedy. Ranges from mustard yellow to a nice diarrhea green.

Thanks for your response.
This is not my first, and baby is almost 5 months. Poop was never like this until a few days ago. Also it's extremely constant. It used to be 2 or 3 diapers a day, now it's one or 2 after each feeding, like 6+ a day!
Do u still think it's not worrisome?

How often do you nurse and low long is each session? Did anything in that schedule change recently? Did you add iron?

I nurse every 3 hours or so. At night probably more often because of not sleeping well.
Nothing changed that I can think of except for all these teeth popping through recently.
I was supposed to add iron but am holding off till this is figured out, so no.

I would guess it is the teeth then. Mine usually start teething after we start solids, but from what I've heard green poop and teething are often connected.
How long is each nursing session? Can you try spacing the sessions to every 3 hours 15 minutes or 3.5 hours? It might lengthen the sessions and change the poop back to yellow. (Don't force your baby - but if s/he agrees to push it off for a few minutes try it.)
And try adding the iron, it will probably help your baby in general.

One of my babies had this. I had never seen this before... I thought it was from the formula I was giving.
Turns out this baby also had reflux and that might have been the reason.
Once I started giving solids it went away.
Nothing to be worried about. Just how this child’s digestive system is working now.

Thank you so much!
I was getting anxious so I'm happy people think it's normal.
