Is there a Yiddish word for 'texture'?

Technically the Yiddish word for texture is geveb.

In my experience however most people substitute something like mamoshish or mahus if they are looking to say texture.

I'm only familiar with Litvish or Yeshivish Yiddish. It could be the people you want it for use a different word.

I can't think of the yiddish word for texture. I've never heard anyone use "mamashus" or "mehus", these are Hebrew words.

irl I never heard anyone use the word geveb.

Idk what the right word would be. In different context maybe diff words can be used.
Let's say in fabric- די סחורה פילט הארט.
די סחורה פון וואס עס איז געמאכט פון פילט נישט גלאטיג.
די געפיל איז ווייעך
For mashed potatoes, jello etc.

I would say it means the feel of a fabric ect. A feeling of a noun. Exs.: the feel of it ect.

Thanks. I should have clarified that I'm talking about the texture of food.

geveb would be about fabric. mamashas also wouldn't work.

Its still related to a FEEL of a thing. Im yiddish speaking I would say if you like a yiddish wotd for it, the closest would be "FEEL"

I second this. a grapefruit and lemon feels like an orange, the feel of a piece of challah and a bagel is similar and so on. Baking soda and flour feel the same way etc.
