I so badly want to believe that we are living in different times - the world is watching, a holocaust can't possibly happen again.

But if it's happening right now to the Uighur, why can't it happen to us!

Why isn't the world doing anything Punch

Quick google search showed that they are a group of Muslims living in China. Chinese govt. imprisoned 10% of them in detention centers. I don't see evidence of killings. This is a tragedy but should not be compared to the holocaust.

Even if these people aren't comparable to the Holocaust, there are other genocides in our times that are closer. And yes, it absolutely could happen to us again. Sorry if that's not the answer you wanted to hear but history strongly supports it.

Lots of people being treated really badly all over the world.

And if we don't care about the Syrians, Yazidis, Kurds or Uighur (to the extent that we would prefer they are not allowed into our country) why are we surpised at the way the non Jews reacted to the Nazis pre world war 2? Remember at first, the Jews were not exterminated, just treated badly and some were herded into camps. It took 10 years of this until the death camps were set up.

I'm sure most of you have heard this but...

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I must be reading too much but I keep having nightmares of a second holocaust. In my dreams are police officers whove always kept us safe till now but theyre holding truncheons and holding all the jews hostage in a building and in the background I "hear" screaming. And then I wake up.

‏ אל תפתחו פה לשטןbut human nature has not changed one iota in five millennia. From the day that Cain murdered Abel, there has never been a time when genocide was not occurring somewhere in the world.

Read the relevant part in the link below, Harvey Swados (Google him) met with the Lubavitcher Rebbe, among other questions regarding the holocaust, he asked the Rebbe if the holocaust could happen again, the Rebbe replied: "Tomorrow morning!"

The simple answer is it will only happen to us if Hashem wants it to happen again.

I was just about to post exactly this.

Do you not all worry about something happening? I don't know if it will be 10 or 50 years, but the world we live in is rapidly getting worse.

I think the difference is that the Nazis actively sought to conquer other countries and round up the Jews in those countries.
Whereas what is happening with the Yazdis, Kurds, Uighur, etc. is all contained, the powers abusing (with the exception of ISIS) are not seeking to conquer other countries, this is infighting that has been going on for a long time.
