My daughter went to the office in school to ask for another class list (baby ripped up the one she got). The secretary said that she needs to bring 25 cents for it. Seriously?

Send a dollar and write a note to "keep the change, you didn't realize the school was in such a hard matzav!"

Oh my how petty!!
On another note, maybe they want to teach the girls responsibility, just like there's a late fee for library books.

My kids school (boys) have the same rule.
Also one of my sons in another school needed to give .25 cents if he needed to call me from the office phone (like if he wasn’t feeling well or forgot his lunch)

I've wondered about this. How does that teach responsibility to kids who have no money? They just come home and ask mommy for it.

And I'm trying to figure out why my children's school has a policy of not sending home the official class list.

Charging fines or fees to "teach responsibility" is obnoxious. Most people who believe in it would be very upset if someone did it to them.

Correct. You learn responsibility by having responsibility given to you. Not by being punished.
