Looking for mu daughter. We cant really pay to much. I know these people charge alot. Maybe somone starting out doing this. My dd goes out alot and Im worried she missing out on other parts of school that's just as important when she goes out. The principal told me that alot of parent pay out of pocket but the tutors she suggested all charge alot of money.

I've paid $60/hour currently and in the past 2 years in Lkwd. Some people are really great, and some are pathetic jerks who have zero interest in extending themselves to relate to a student. You win some, you lose some. Ask a lot of questions, don't let yourself be talked down to as if you can't understand, and expect to see progression and movement that is visible to you. If you don't see that, stop and find someone else. If the principal says she's amaaazing, and you don't think so, you can give it some time to reflect her experience but in the end trust your judgment. You are your child's best advocate.
Insist on BOE evaluations, they are free. They are available to yeshiva students, but they won't let you know for some odd reason. You have to ask. You can get speech, OT, and educational psych, IIRC. Insist that the tester be at the meeting to discuss results. Insist that they stay for the entire meeting and explain every single thing on those papers or you will not sign the paper stating that you attended with them. If they say they have other meetings scheduled, insist on re-scheduling so they will be there. Calmly ask who their supervisor is so that you can ask if their absence is legal and take down the contact info. I learned the hard way. I have met numerous unscrupulous people on this journey, unfortunately. Tick off whoever you have to, but don't stop fighting for your kid.
If the school has decent ppl, you might be able to make do with pull-out help. But ask about push-in - you are 1,000% correct - its better for the child to be in class and have help as its happening, tho not always feasible. Don't give up!
