I come home from work straight in to motherhood. I need to unwind and get cozy. what can I do with my kids so we can while away the afternoon together in cozy companionship?

Build a fort and hang out inside with pillows and books.

Snuggle up on the couch with them and look at photo albums together.

Do crafts with them ex. perler beads, paint by number, coloring etc, while listening to a children's cd.

I sometimes just sit and stroke my kids' hair while we sing together or talk about our day.

In the winter we setup a table in the living room and do puzzles. It’s something we can all do together (or alone) and pick up and start whenever there is time and spend as little or as much time as we have.
Add some popcorn, hot cocoa or tea to make it especially cozy.

We’ve been doing this a few years now and my kids (and neighbors who hang out here) look forward for puzzle season to start.

Gosh, am I the only one drowning in homework??
Even my first grader comes home with both Hebrew and English homework...
But if I wouldn’t be busy supervising homework we would do arts and crafts, color, read books, build with blocks or magnatiles, play dough, bake a cake, take a bubble bath, play a game like “spot it” ....

I have trouble finding good puzzles that don't have lots of pieces, we're not so good at puzzles yet
any suggestions?

The dollar store!!
They have the 24 pcs,100,300 and 500 for just a dollar!
If you lose a piece no big deal and they have really nice one!!

This. Just got several nice ones at dollar tree the other day. Hit or miss, but worth a shot.

Where do you keep the puzzle over the week?
and how do you store it over shabbos to be brought out the following week?

I have a few kids that are ages 13-1. Everyone 3 and up works on it. I typically get puzzles that are 1000 pieces. Recently we started 1500 because we were going through them to fast. A puzzle will take at least a week but normally longer.
We also glue them and they are also fun memories of cozy times hanging in basement steps.

DH and I work on it ourselves before going to bed when discussing our day.

I leave a folding table out all week. I have an empty wall it sits against. We use folding chairs and pull away from the wall when more ppl want to sit around it.

It doesn’t look so neat over Shabbos. Put its price I pay...

They sell boards that you can close or roll up puzzle and move it. I never tried it but if you need the space it can work.
I like that it sits out because this way you can come and go without having to set anything up.
