Lessons we can all learn from this thread:

1) It's always darkest before the dawn
2) You're not alone and people do care, but they have to know what you need - ask!
3) Yeshuos Hashem k'heref ayin

Thank you, FF!

Oh my goodness, I am so stunned! Surprised Very Happy

I can truly start the new year with a fresh start, and get my life back under control. Thank you Hashem for putting so many wonderful people in my life!

Now I have a question for everybody - a few people told me I should either raise my goal, or start a new campaign. I have some health issues that I have been putting on the back burner, because all the specialists are out of network and my insurance (Maccabi) doesn't want to give me permission. I don't have the strength to fight with all the paperwork involved, I just want to get better. On top of that, some of my treatments may be off-label, which means they won't be covered anyway.

I have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, and many doctors don't recognize it, or try to tell you it's "just" Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It is so much more than that, and it does not get better over time. I need help to manage it, because there is no known cure yet. https://www.meaction.net/about/what-is-me/

I also need to get some dental work done, and I haven't been able to upgrade my coverage from "sheli" to "zahav".

This is on top of my depression and anxiety!

So here's my problem. I am already so grateful, I feel like I should be satisfied for now. I don't want anyone to think that I am greedy, because that is so far from the truth. I ran the numbers last night, and every single shekel of the campaign money is accounted for, and after I cover all my basic expenses there will be nothing left.

So, what should I do? I am not used to feeling like this, and being in this position. I've never had to do a fundraising campaign before. My local social services are doing all they can for me, but they can't pay my medical expenses.

@FranticFrummie As someone who works in fundraising online I would suggest that you raise your goal, and add an update explaining that you want to raise additional money to cover medical expenses. Much hatzlacha and good health in the new year.

No no no!!! Sheli is the higher one. It has everything Magen Zahav has and more. If you have Sheli keep it!

BTW your electric bill looks enormous. Is there a chance someone is stealing electricity from you, or that you have an electricity leak (zliga)? Unless you are using radiators, and then it should've dropped over the summer.

Good news! I just signed a lease today on a really cute little apartment that is 1,000 shekels cheaper than the place I am in now. I'm going to have to do some serious decluttering before I can move, and figure out how my large furniture is going to fit in a smaller square meter area.

I am very excited that I get a little private courtyard, and a place to grow my own vegetables! It's so quiet and peaceful way on the outskirts of Beit Shemesh, it's almost like being in the country.

I'm on the lower level of a villa house, and the owners live upstairs. They are super nice people, and have said that they will introduce me around to all of the Anglos once I get settled in. They seem to have pretty close friendships with everyone in the neighborhood.

The bad news, is that the apartment doesn't come with any kitchen appliances. My loaner refrigerator is dying, and not worth shlepping over there. I don't think it will survive the move, and the seal is broken anyway.

So, I've got more expenses to cover. It's always something, right? I've left the campaign open, if anyone can help. Thank you all so much!

I'm so glad things are turning up. May they only continue in that direction

Well iyh the lower rent is long term enough to offset the one-time expenses like appliances and perhaps trading in larger furniture for more compact. And you never know when someone is moving or remodeling and can pass on kitchen appliances free or cheap. That happens where I live.

It should be with much hatzlacha! Sounds like a lovely place.

No way am I getting rid of my great grandparents' furniture! With a little care it can easily last for at least another 100 years. I don't mind having a "cozy" space. I'd rather be a bit squished, than have to live with modern design. To me, that's the ultimate in depressing.

That's my link. I'm no longer at risk for eviction, and I've got most of my electric bill paid, as well as the arnona.

Still, I have all my medical issues, and I STILL haven't gotten any money from Social Security or Bituach Leumi! Mad

Social Security won't give me information over the phone, they want me to make an appointment at the embassy.

Bituach Leumi keeps asking for more tests and more documentation, and then they say "we'll send you a letter when we get the results back." No timeline when that will happen, of course. I keep checking my bank accounts to see if there are any disability deposits going in, but still nothing. It's been well over 6 months now.

I really, really hope that things get sorted out soon, because I do NOT want to keep asking for money. It's so hard for me to ask, and it just makes me feel weird.

I come from a long line of very hard working people who only bought what they could afford, and this rubs me the wrong way . I just didn't grow up like this. I want to be the one who is GIVING tzedaka!

Congratulations on your new place! So exciting to have a garden:) Your link doesn't work, though - it says "We could not find any causes". Soon enough, you will be back on your feet and helping others, b'e"H!

I am so excited about your garden!!! How therapeutic!

I will be "waving" to you when I go to Bet Shemesh to visit my mechatunim. (I am so very sorry that the different parts of Bet Shemesh could be somewhat kinder to each other. I wish I could turn things around. It is frightening and thoroughly confuses me, and by the way I am very chasidish from Brooklyn and I do not get it.)

I am davening right now to Hashm that this change should bring you good mazel; a peaceful life; health; parnosa.
