What sort of groups?
And is there a better way to organise the information in them so that they don't just read like a piece of Gemara jumping here there and everywhere?
Personally my chats fit into these categories
Personal friends
Colleagues
Shiurim I listen to (usually one way)
Discussions about Shiurim (2 way)
Stuff that's going on in my OOT community (this is the worst, 10s of 'good shabbas' messages and 3 min 'inspirational' clips that I don't even watch now UNLESS they are sent to me personally by a friend, mixed up with important info like something's been cancelled
Refuah shleima/tehilim groups (which are good at sticking to topic or I leave)
Sports teams my kids are in
What about you?
And is there a way to pull out and save IMPORTANT messages so as to find them more easily?

My friends know me as the whatsapp queen.
Use the star feature!
You can star messages so they are easily accessible.
Also pinning chats as well as muting chats

Both families have 2 whatsapp groups (with parents and without)
Then I have a friends group,. Extended family from both sides.
Close cousins chat.
I have a couple school ones for my kids and a couple work related ones (subject wise).
Probably about 12 or so all together.
My husband has about 25+ mostly work related and I don’t know how he manages. All my groups are mute but he has to have his on for work so his phone is forever pinging.

I have one for my sons class that everyone communicates
One for a different sons class where only the morah can send messages
A swap group for giving away free stuff
A group for exchanging any good deals or other info
Im in a bunch of learning groups where only the admin can message people
An ADHD group thats not so active
I keep my groups on mute and check occasionally if I have some down time.

No WhatsApp but group me chats. Basically 3 for support groups I’m in. 2 immediate & 1 extended family groups that are extremely quiet. And a class group that’s literally dead.

-class group for each of my 4 school aged kids
-for my little one's playgroup
-bus group
-for all the local families that send to the same school theday my kids attend (live in 1 community and school is on a different community so fewer than 30 families)
-for my husband's family
-for a small group of friends
-block group
-shul group
-recipe group
-deal group
-kashrus questions
-daily tehillim
-local mothers who kept kids home in the summer and did camp mommy
So total of 16. Wow! Until I wrote it all out I didn't realize how many groups I was on. A bunch are pretty quite so my phone isn't constantly buzzing.

WhatsApp needs to come out with a like feature. My pet peeve is when someone posts a simcha on a big group and then you have 256 messages that say mazel tov. Argh so annoying!
I keep most of my groups muted.
I know how to star messages but how do you pull up only the starred ones?
The search feature is also great when I'm looking for a specific message.

Counted 44 that I've been active in the past month.
Most of them are with the same people. Family members, neighbors, female neighbors, friends, various work groups.
School for most kids, after school activities. Etc etc

I don’t know what phone you have but for my phone if you go to settings, there is a spot that pulls up starred messages

Zero. I was in one but withdrew because of all the off-topic chatter.

In “order” to be a better wife/mother I am not on any chat group. So I can focus on “MY” family.
It’s wonderful! Give it a try, you will see the difference.
I hope to continue like that.

Five, but none involve prolonged chit chat or significant conversation.
A community-wide chat for women only. It's mostly simcha announcements and mundane local logistical questions and PSA's.
A chat for my kids' day school. Used for event information, calendar reminders, and school pictures.
A shul one that only posts event information. Members can't post, only shul admins.
A women's one for the shul, with women's event information.
A chat for moms and babysitters to connect. Moms post when they need a sitter, sitters reply to moms if they want the job.
I'm not sheltered from or opposed to social media, I'm just not really motivated to be active on it.
