Hi. I'm looking to speak with a Rav who is extremely knowledgeable in naming a baby. I spoke to my Rav and while the answer was a fine one, I need more reassurance. To clarify: I'm not Rav hopping- my Rav actually told me to use the name I want. I just don't feel reassured or comfortable yet and I need that reassurance.

Diff rabbanim will give diff answers.
For example I spoke to 2 American gedolim about naming after someone who died young.
One told me to add a name.
One told me I should not add a name and just change the name (Yehoshua -> Hoshea) or leave it as is.
It really depends on how they feel about names.

Why would you ask a Rav you don't know about a name?? Just do what your Rav told you to do.

Because some Rabanim are well known so while I don't feel the need to go to them for every shaila that comes up, I'd be happy to reach out if I'm told they're knowledgeable in this area...
