Are we referring to a man or woman?

You see, this is something you can figure out by what the context is taking abt most of time.

Depends by what gender, they identify.
If sentence doesn't continue with a he or she, we can just call them they.

I was having a lot of trouble with DCP in the single mother thread. I thought it meant day care provider, but really it meant donor-conceived person. (I object to using the term or the acronym to refer to someone, but that's another story.) I don't very much like acronyms.

I don't want to rehash that thread here, but in my defense, it seems that's how donor conceived people prefer to be referred to, as per their advocacy groups. People usually talk about a donor conceived child, but that fails to account for the fact that they remain donor conceived people even as adults.

scroll to , What kinds of language should I use when talking about donor conception and those born through this technology?

DD lives in another country, so we text a lot. She's 16.

She knows not to swear around me, but she uses a lot of teen acronyms and memes. Most of the time I understand her, but there have been times I've had to Google to figure it out.

No way am I going to ask her what something means. I want her to think her mom is cool. LOL

BTW, G-d help me if I use an acronym that is "soooo 6 months ago."

"Mom, no one says that anymore!" Banging head

BTW, does anyone know what foaf stands for?
An eighth grade teacher used this term often, as in a "friend of a friend" but I've never heard anyone else use it.
Wondering if it's her own thing

No, FOAF stands for that. Wikipedia says that it appears in a 1978 book.
