I am applying for insurance for the family and it gives me a choice of Aetna, amerigroup, horizon, united healthcare, or wellcare.
I hope to use the Dr. Diamond practice when they open. I haven't done any other research about doctors. Which one do pediatric and adult dentists and primary care doctors take? Which ones cover medications best, particularly ADHD meds? Which one is best if/when I get pregnant?
Thanks!

Right so I don’t know anyone here yet and need to set up insurance. The question is who do most people use and what do they accept. The things that I would need in my op. Thanks!

Ask Dr Diamond which plan they take. I have UHC but need to switch as my pediatrician is being kicked off it

I have UHC too. So far Dr Shanik was thrown off. And Dr. Fenster will be thrown off effective January 1. Many dentists and OBs began taking Amerigroup as Dr. Shanik requested that his patients transfer to them. Most still take UHC. But more and more are adding themselves onto the Amerigroup list and a quite a few are pending with WellCare as well.
To be sure, you would need to ask Dr. Diamond what he plans to accept. Otherwise you can choose one temporarily and switch when the time comes.
Good luck

Look into Aetna BH. I switched to that from UHC. They are quite reasonable with therapies.

I was a patient of dr shanik, I chose to switch insurance(I had United healthcare) instead of switching dr....
Amerigroup is a pain in the neck to deal with...
I might switch dr if it continues like that!

It really depends on what doctors you have or need.
I switched from UHC to amerigroup because many of my doctors were making the switch.
Speak to your doctor, your children's doctor, dentist, specialists, etc. and see what insurance plan would work for you. Unless you'd be willing to change doctors.

I switched to Wellcare because they were going to cover patients at CHOP with ongoing preexisting conditions. Apparently the first couple of months, they were covering, but they have since stopped. They covered one visit for us after onerous and lengthy paperwork at the end of the summer and won't cover any more. So that was a bust. At this point, we are strongly considering switching to Aetna.

They denied coverage for my son's surgery, the dr has 24h to provide additional information, that's it. So I appealed, then appealed to medicaid and it was bh approved but I spent hours and hours on the phone with them!! Every time I spoke to someone else I got contradicting information.
It also took a full 2 weeks to approve a dental procedure for another son.(on antibiotics and painkillers!!)
They don't cover my migraine medicine or the allergy medicine that used to be covered by uhc.
They only reimburse $50/pair of glasses. Impossible to find anything for that price!
It seems like everything is a battle with them.
