Can someone explain to me what they DO? How they help you? I feel so dumb I just don't get it.

I use Alexa mostly for shopping lists. If my hands are dirty while cooking, and I realize I am almost out of oil, I just say "Alexa, add oil to my shopping list" and don't need to wash up, find a pen and paper and add it to a list.
I also ask for weather reports.
DD uses hers to listen to Harry Potter and as an alarm. (She tried using Alexa for homework answers, but I told her I would take it away if she tried that again).
We listen to music, ask for recipes, ask questions of the moment.
When dd is in her room and I'm in the kitchen, I can "drop in" on dd and check on her, ask her a question, or tell her to come downstairs. (We have one in the kitchen and one in her room)
Alexa can also be used as a hands free phone. I either tell her to call someone by name, or rattle off the phone number for her to call.
