Scraping with credit card or fingernail is easiest. For big thick spills, rub with ice to make it brittle, then tap with something hard to shatter. Use card or fingernail to scrape up residue. If there’s still some gunk left, melt with a blow-dryer (neater and safer than boiling water and won’t spread the wax all over) and rub away with a soft clean cloth.

A flexible spatula is great for the kitchen and also for this.

Hair blowdryer. Works really well. I use it on my silver candalabra too.
