My almost 3 year old has a really bad odor that I can't pinpoint. Often it seems to come from her mouth but just as often not. She can stand 2 feet away and I'll smell it but when I try to sniff individual body parts (sounds gross - I know) I can't tell where the smell is coming from. When she uses the bathroom I'll often (not always) notice that her urine has a strong, unpleasant smell as well.
She's toilet trained and we brush teeth, bathe at least every second day if not every day.
Any insights?

Already tested twice. Negative. This is going on for a while already.

Maybe reflux?
I know my baby had a acidy smell that I first couldn't pinpoint, till I realized it was from reflux.

If her pee has a bad odor she might be dehydrated. It can also be a yeast infection or UTI.
Did you smell her clothes? Shoes? Certain clothes can have a smell.

One of my kids had bad odor coming out of ear. It was a burst ear drum. That smelled like vinegar.Another kid smelled like rotten cheese. They had layers of fat and between the layers a skin infection

But she never smelled as a baby. This issue is only ongoing for a few months

Would those issues cause the smell to be obvious even from a few feet away? And not only in the bathroom?
Smell is not from clothes

Ear is an interesting theory but was by the doctor recently. As for infection, not as far as I see.

I know a case where it was a bead stuck up a child's nose for months and no one realized besides for the smell. I would take your child to the doctor and have the doctor check everything.

Not likely but I guess it doesn't hurt to check.
Thanks everybody!
