Yeah, but then if two posters have similar avatars then I have to double check the name, because some things don't add up.

I don't look at a poster differently because of the avatar. I think she just had the time to make herself one, I don't think it affects the way I view her at all. I go by the posters posts and that's how I view her.

I always thought of Marina as a wise old person because of her Dumbledore avatar. But I think the names are more telling than the avatars since so many of them (avatars) are generics.

Avatar or no, I can't keep most people straight.

I've no idea if I agree with you or not. But I can't help but love your for your avatar.

It makes me think about the person personality - like if they chose something cute vs. funny vs. just matches their SN vs. serious vs. artsy....

Not if it's normal

But a very personal one can give an insight

I don't judge the merit of one avatar over another, but people who use avatars feel more familiar and likeable (not that I dislike those without personal avatars, but people with avatars feel more like friends.) A generic-looking avatar like a square flower photo does not have as much of an effect as one that is a different shape or a unique design.

I don't really pay attention to avatars, and never think about what they mean or anything like that. I really can't keep track of who is who, anyway!
