I have a lot of good quality, lightly worn or not clothing to sell. I have been trying to sell it on Tradesy but sales are very slow and I need the money. I think I once read on imamother about a place where you bring in a shopping bag full and they buy it on the spot. Does anyone know what I am referring to? Other ideas welcome too.

I have skirts, blazers and dresses, mostly size 8-10. In Manhattan.

Unfortunately the reality is that unless clothing is really very special, there is so much available that it is almost impossible to sell.

If you want to get a sense of what people are paying, check poshmark for the items that you have. In Manhattan, I would suspect that any consignment shop is really only interested in very style high end designer clothing or clothing that is vintage or otherwise unique.

But without knowing exactly what you are selling, it really is pennies on the dollar - if that - for standard "middle class" woman's clothing because the market is glutted with it.

I just got rid of a slew of clothing items - some to my housekeeper; some funky stuff to my friend for her teenage daughter and some just donated.

Try consignment shops but don’t expect to get much for it. Maybe try having a sale in your neighborhood, like a garage sale, but realize that people are looking for bargains at these events. People will want to spend $30 on a suit that cost you $600.
