I don’t know anything about donut decorating. I’m hosting a chanuka party and want to have a donut decorating station. Please tell me what I need. What kind of frosting etc.
Thanks!

Make a chocolate glaze and then have a bunch of toppings that will stick to it. Edible pearls, edible glitter, sprinkles, nut crunch, pastel flowers, non perils, etc.

Francosz donuts gives you everything you need for a pretty good price.
I believe you can make similar arrangement with Royal.

Glaze is usually sticky
Frosting is creamy
Icing dries hard.

You can make icing yourself easy. Fill up Pyrex glass with confectioners sugar, add some cream of tartar, 1 T. Oil, vanilla or any flavor, add hot water starting 2 T. and mix quickly.

It should be a little thick and dissolved. Adjust water as needed. If too thick, add drop of water. If too runny, add conf sugar.

If you want choc icing add cocoa to the mixture before adding the water. For coffee flavor, dissolve in hot water before adding.

It will dry up quickly, so if you want to use later, store in container and warm up in microwave. Always keep mixing before pouring.

Not personally, when I was in HS the G.O. would organize it.
I spoke to Royal today they're not taking orders for the icing alone on chanukah cuz they're too busy then.
