I bake my own challos every week but I saw raw challah dough in the store and decided to try. The company name is miracle challah.
The dough is rising now and it’s very gray.., not the yellowish tinge that my challah dough usually has. It also has an interesting smell...
Has anyone tried this challah?
Is it good?
Is this the normal color?
I’m wondering if I should quickly put up a small fresh dough..

I don’t know about the grey, that sounds concerning, but I know that those challahs take a loonggg time to rise.

If it doesn’t smell right I would pack it up and put it in the freezer to take back to the store
Store bought dough is expensive

I don't know that brand but when frozen dough is gray it can mean the dough had been left out at some point and defrosted. This was a frequent problem at a store I go to, they had a freezer that often broke down and any dough products in it would turn gray.

Wow, that's a first!
I came to say you need different ingredients in different countries

Well ..at the end, it barely rose even though it was rising by the warm oven the entire day and it did not have a fresh, homemade taste...
I’ll stick with my homemade recipe for a small dough next time I’m not in the mood to bake a big batch.
