If I want to give Chanukah Gelt based on age, what formula makes sense?

Oldest is 16, youngest is 2, and we have ten grandchildren B"H.

I assume same age boys and girls should get the same amount, so thats not a question.

My father gives $1 per night plus your age + days of Chanukah. So on night #6, if you are 11 years old, you get $1.17 ($1 + 11 cents + 6 cents). So not much more for older kids Smile but it does add up!

How do you work that?

Personally I prefer to go by age because as a kid, I hated the feeling of being "unlucky", winning the least.

My in-laws do $5-$10 for children between baby and age 7. $10-$15 between 8 and 14. $15-$20 over 15.

I heard many people give the dollar amount matching their age.
A ten yr old would get $10.
A 15 yr old would get $15.

Either keep the sizeable sum for those who enjoy it and give "coins" to the smaller ones, or give everyone the same on their account

My in laws have around 90(!) grandchildren and give according to age.
My parents have 12 grandchildren and are very generous and give each grandchild $100.
I think that’s too much. A 2 year old doesn’t even appreciate it.
I think little kids should get $10-$20
A little older could be $50.
Probably only really big kids who know the value of money should get $100.

How about $.50 per year of age?
So a 2yo gets $1, a 16yo gets $8.
If you have the money a dollar per year of age, so 2yo gets $2 and 16yo gets $16. But if you don't have the money for that go with half a dollar per year.
