Invited to a wedding in New York next month
I live out of town and would love to know what is in style these days in terms of colors, textures etc.
I always feel so ‘ out of towny’ when going to weddings in New York
Pics or links to dresses would be so very appreciated! Size 6-8
Thanks!!

New York is very big.
Every neighborhood/ crowd in that neighborhood will have different styles. Are you going to crown heights, Monsey, Flatbush, Williamsburg...?
Is it a chassidish, yeshivish, just plain frum......?

How old are you, and what is your relation to the wedding party? (Like are you immediate/extended family? A best friend? Just a guest?)

Black midi-length dress. Nude hose. Beautiful earrings, no necklace, great bag. Have fun!

And you're a size 6-8??? Nice!
Ok so my mother is 50. I'm thinking of what she would wear. Black is very in. Velvet details. A collar or mock neck. An asymmetrical hemline.

Nude is more elegant to weddings.

Could be. But depending on the crowd she may be the only one wearing nude if she goes that route. I would wear black tights (opaque not sheer).

People may wear nude, but its a risk. You can't go wrong with black.

You said fancy crowd. Then nude is the way to go. Asymentrical hemline is a bit 2 years ago I may still wear it but don't buy it. And I'm 50 and a size 2-4

But if you are afraid to wear nude then thin opaque with sheen. Not black sheer.

If the wedding is in a community where women wear only opaque tights, then by all means do so. Otherwise, opaque tights, shimmer or not, don’t go with wedding attire.
